The head of alternative investments for EMEA at J.P. Morgan Private Bank, Mark Hempstead connects the bank’s illustrious client book of UHNW families to investment opportunities across a broad range of asset classes, including private credit, private equity and real estate. 

He tells Spear’s the bank engages in detailed conversations with clients to work out their wealth goals before crafting long-term and diversified investment strategies. 

‘Our explicit view is that private investments are an essential part of portfolios – and growing in their importance overall. It’s about returns and asset diversification. Essentially, [we] are widening the toolkit – the number of options clients have to be able to invest,’ Hempstead says. 

‘But it is also the underlying asset class that has, by far, the most dispersion across different managers in terms of their potential outcomes. We’ve built our platform around helping clients navigate that challenge.’
