Hugo Burnand is the ‘reassuringly expensive’ society portrait photographer who is best known for his work with British royalty – he was granted a royal warrant by King Charles III in 2024. 

He was commissioned to photograph the weddings of Charles and Camilla, and William and Kate; to take Charles’ official 60th and 70th birthday images; and to create the official portraits for the coronation of Charles and Camilla. 

Burnand has also shot a wide range of other famous faces, including Bill Clinton, Margaret Thatcher, Victoria Beckham and Boy George. 

The charming Old Harrovian was born in Cannes in the 1960s and learned to develop and print photographs on the kitchen table under the guidance of his mother, photographer Ursy Burnand.
