David Gartry

Professor David Gartry is a highly regarded consultant ophthalmic surgeon who has over 30 years of experience. 

Gartry, the first UK surgeon to perform laser eye surgery, founded the Wimpole Eye Clinic in 2015 in order to create ‘the foremost centre for excellence in eye treatments’. In addition to laser eye surgery, the clinic offers refractive lens replacement surgery and cataract removal. 

Gartry studied at Glasgow Caledonian University and University College London, and trained at Moorfields Eye Hospital. He has published more than 50 academic papers on optometry and is a past president of the British Society for Refractive Surgery and a member of both the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.

The clinic reports that in early 2025, he performed his 30,000th refractive laser eye surgery procedure.
