Tariq Ayoub is the founder and director of private eye clinic Oculase.

A specialist refractive eye surgeon, Ayoub performs laser eye surgery, cataracts surgery and lens exchange as well as implanting contact lenses for his patients. He also conducts some corneal surgeries and is known for having a practice which treats keratoconus – a corneal disorder – in patients via cutting-edge methods.

Ayoub, who has undergone laser eye surgery himself, says that his patients appreciate his honesty during discussion and consultation. ‘In many refractive practices, patients never meet the surgeon until the day of surgery and never meet them afterwards,’ he tells Spear’s. ‘It’s a very different approach at Oculase. I’m involved from start to finish, and am quite clear and honest about the benefits, the risks and the side effects.’
