Founder Hayley Elvins emphasises a gentler approach to security, and she makes sure to assess an individual’s risk profile in its entirety in order to prepare an appropriate response. The rationale is simple: ‘It’s really establishing if [clients are] just scared of something for the sake of being scared,’ she says, and crystallising ‘what [clients] should really be concentrating on’. This means examining the individual’s digital profile, business activities, political exposure, home security, living pattern, travel plans and staff vetting.

Close protection is another important element of security, and Sloane Risk Group offers this solution in a tactful way. ‘Quite often what people want is a very, very discreet presence,’ says Elvins. ‘I’m looking at finding them people that look like a personal assistant, that look like a nanny, just part of that general entourage.’
