Tom Upson is head of wealth management at Carpenter Farraday, specialising in front-office executive search in the wealth, asset management and private banking sectors.
Mergers, acquisitions and a host of legislative changes have created demand for fresh talent in some of the industry’s most exclusive C-suites. ‘It’s a fascinating time to be a part of the market,’ Upson tells Spear’s. ‘I get to talk to managers about their new vision, what their growth ambitions are and how people can be part of their new brand.’
Upson joined the firm in 2010 and was made part of the board of directors in 2019. Over his time at the firm, he says, he has seen candidates increasingly interested in roles that offer access to private market solutions, alongside the regional expansion of many private banks in the UK.
