Spear’s Review
Based in Rothley Law’s offices in Milton Keynes (Shoosmiths’ private wealth arm moved to the firm in 2023), Charlotte Dunn is a director within the firm’s multi-faceted private wealth team, which focuses on protecting HNW assets.
Dunn has an enviable A-list clientele, which includes publishing moguls, top entertainers and landed gentry. She advises them on all aspects of tax, from wills to powers of attorney, probate and trust creation and administration. She has a particular focus on heritage assets and acts as a trustee, executor and attorney where necessary.
Examples of the successes Dunn has achieved in recent years include preparing a charitable trust ‘to hold a work of national importance’, advising on a multi-million-pound asset in lieu claim for IHT under heritage asset legislation, and acting collaboratively with a client’s accountant on the sale of a family business ‘to ensure that some of the value in the business was passed to their children in the most inheritance-tax-efficient way, whilst offering asset protection measures’.
