Across a busy practice, McGill advises private individuals, families and trustees, both from the UK and further afield, on issues such as succession planning, wills and trusts, and personal taxation. He also advises charities, providing constitutional, regulatory and governance advice to charity trustees.

He sits on the international membership committee of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in charity law.
