Jodie Barwick-Bell was first introduced to Spear’s for her work with family offices, having spent six years of her career in-house for two entrepreneurial families.

Now at accounting firm Azets, Barwick-Bell understands the difficulties that UHNWs face, and she is able to use this insight to help clients with their tax and succession planning, trusts and governance needs.

‘When you’re making decisions about passing wealth to the next generation, it’s much more than just understanding the tax considerations. It’s thinking about education, it's thinking about protection from divorce,’ she says. 

She emphasises that possessing vast wealth can be alienating, and many can feel lost. ‘The wealthier you are, the more you encounter people who just say “yes”, while what clients really want is somebody who will challenge them.’
