Rooks Rider partner Karen Methold, head of the wealth planning team at the firm, quips that she tends to act for people ‘from cricket-playing countries’, namely Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia.

She adds that ‘65 per cent of our client base has an international angle, so we also frequently deal with clients who have assets in jurisdictions such as Liechtenstein, the British Virgin Islands and Switzerland’. For these clients, Methold provides advice on tax planning, as well as on establishing onshore and offshore trusts and corporate structures.

Having worked at Rooks Rider for the entirety of her career (which began in 1986), she has strived to establish a partner-led service whereby clients deal directly with high-level partners, an important aspect for HNWs expecting quality advice, particularly during periods of economic and political turbulence.
