Lucy Cawkwell, who began tutoring during her gap year in 1992, has more than 30 years of experience working with young people from 5 years old to university age across a range of subjects – from maths and science to English, French and geography. 

Frustrated with the agencies she was working with, Cawkwell set up her own company in 2000 with an aim ‘to provide a discreet, personal service in an industry that’s rapidly becoming overcrowded and reliant on automated online systems’, she tells Spear’s.

The team at Osborne Cawkwell Tuition – now numbering around 150 expert private tutors – includes a special needs consultant and a mental health adviser. The agency offers private tuition and homeschooling to students from all backgrounds, and provides specialist support for children with learning difficulties and special needs. ‘We really tailor our services to the way each child’s brain operates,’ Cawkwell explains.
