Investec Bank is an international banking and wealth management specialist, catering to a HNW client base on a proposition grounded in ‘active wealth creation’. In practical terms, this entails what Ryan Tholet calls a ‘pincer movement’ between the firm’s ability to help its clients to create wealth and then manage that wealth on an ongoing basis.

‘Our role is to drive one part of the private client proposition in the UK through our private banking offering, utilising the bank’s resources to help HNW clients create wealth, mainly through capital provision,’ explains Tholet, who oversees private client requirements at Investec and sits on the bank’s executive committee. ‘We partner with our wealth and investment team to assist those clients when they move into a wealth management phase.’

Ryan Tholet holds responsibility for all private client activity at Investec and is a member of the executive committee at Investec Bank plc. Having served as head of Investec Private Bank both in UK and South Africa, Ryan assumed his current role in 2020. As part of this, he oversees the real estate, treasury and funding and global markets FICC and risk solutions functions.

He is an experienced economist with a background in derivatives structuring, and prior to joining Investec in 2005, he worked at Citigroup and Standard Corporate & Merchant Bank.
