Following the resignation of Jean-Luc Biamonti in early 2023, Stéphane Valeri took over the leadership of Monaco’s Société des Bains de Mer (SBM), a public company which owns the Monte Carlo casino, the Opéra de Monte-Carlo and the famed Hôtel de Paris.

SBM boasts a storied history, having been founded in 1863 by a royal decree of Charles III, the Prince of Monaco, to make Monaco a holiday destination for the European high society. Valeri’s appointment looks to carry on this legacy. A graduate from the ESCP Business School, he has served as president of the National Council of the Principality of Monaco and was appointed by Albert II, the current Prince of Monaco, to serve as the government councillor-minister for social affairs and health from 2010 to 2007.
