Spear’s Review

Automobile maker McLaren’s new CEO arrived at the firm’s headquarters in Surrey, where all the firm’s supercars and hypercars are hand-assembled, in 2022. Michael Leiters, a German-born engineering graduate, was most recently chief technology officer at Ferrari and before that held senior roles at Porsche.

At McLaren’s helm, Leiters is determined to continue and enhance its reputation for being ‘one of the world’s most admired luxury supercar companies’, he has said. With over 100 retailers in more than 40 locations worldwide, the brand has seen strong demand for its limited-production models in particular, with both the 765LT Coupe and Spider models ‘entirely sold out’ in recent years.

But Leiters has another important role: ensuring the success of its first series-production hybrid, Artura, released in early 2023, as well as the development of its first ‘shared performance vehicle’ – aka SUV – and an EV supercar.
