Mark Burns
Spear’s Review
Mark Burns’ story with business jet manufacturer Gulfstream, daughter company of General Dynamics, begins in 1983, when he joined the business as an illustrator and worked in computer-aided design. He has since risen up the ranks, working in multiple roles across the business, first as an engineer and technician, and later in the firm’s customer support division. His devotion was recognised in 2015 when Burns was awarded the position of president.
Gulfstream is the current market leader in the business jet industry, with General Dynamics aerospace revenue topping $11.2 billion in 2024. The company was one of the earliest adopters of sustainable fuels, and in 2025 received certification for the G800, an ultra-long-range business aircraft that can travel up to 8,200 miles.
In addition to overseeing the leading aviation business, Burns acts as an adviser to the US’s National Business Aviation Association, and sits as a board member on the National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC.
