Spear’s Review
The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) is at the heart of Dubai’s rise as a global financial hub, and its trajectory has been shaped under the leadership of Arif Amiri, who has served as CEO of the DIFC Authority since 2014. With a background spanning almost eight years at HSBC and a senior role at property developer Emaar, Amiri has brought financial acumen and operational experience to the DIFC.
Under his stewardship, the DIFC has expanded its footprint and influence. As of mid-2025, the centre hosts over 7,700 active companies, from international banks and asset managers to fintech and AI innovators. Amiri has overseen the launch of the Dubai AI Campus, a cutting-edge hub for fintech and emerging technologies, as well as the DIFC Family Wealth Centre, designed to provide UHNW families with tailored wealth and asset management services.
Beyond its office towers, DIFC now encompasses high-end hotels, private members’ clubs (such as a Dubai outpost of London’s Arts Club) and a growing array of lifestyle and professional services.
With initiatives spanning sustainability, fintech and professional development, Amiri ensures that DIFC remains a magnet for talent, capital and ambition in the Middle East and beyond.
