Spear’s Review

Paul Geddes is the group chief executive officer of Evelyn Partners, one of the UK’s largest wealth management firms with £65 billion in assets under management as of June 2025.

Since becoming CEO in 2023, Geddes has overseen a series of changes at the company, including the March 2025 sale of Evelyn’s professional services arm to Apax Partners. This marked a sharpening of the firm’s focus on its core strength: wealth management, positioning it as a specialist in an increasingly crowded and volatile market.

Geddes is well versed in the world of financial services, having served as head of the Royal Bank of Scotland’s insurance services department. He also was head of QA Higher Education, a provider of education services and online courses to some of the world’s largest companies and organisations – including IBM, Microsoft, the Foreign Office and PepsiCo.

There has been some speculation in the press that Evelyn, born out of a consolidation of the old Tilney, Smith & Williamson and Towry wealth managers and now owned by private equity firms Permira and Warburg Pincus, is preparing for a sale in early 2026. The outcome of any potential sale remains uncertain; however, Spear’s will continue to monitor the situation closely.
