The Middle East is home to some of the world’s biggest and flashiest real estate projects. Standing tall in this crowded and competitive field is Mahdi Amjad, the visionary founder and executive chairman of leading Dubai-based luxury property developer OMNIYAT.

Established in 2005, OMNIYAT delivers super-prime residential, commercial and hospitality developments. Flagship projects include the Opus, designed by Zaha Hadid, and One at Palm Jumeirah. In 2024, the group celebrated the completion of The Lana and the Lana Residences, a hotel and adjoining private residences from the Dorchester Collection. 

This property empire is the latest professional success for Amjad, who chose to eschew a future in his family’s jewellery business in favour of forging his own path: he founded a technology company in 1995 that grew to become one of the region’s major IT distributors.

There is no sign of Amjad slowing down. OMNIYAT has acquired Dubai’s Marasi Bay Island and plans to redevelop it into a luxury lifestyle and wellness hub; entered the commercial real estate market with its Enara and Lumena developments; and issued a groundbreaking $500 million green sukuk to finance green projects.
