Michael Dyke

Spear’s Review

Michael Dyke is the CEO of New Murabba Development Company, the firm behind the New Murabba project. Wholly owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, the Riyadh development is part of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s Vision 2030 programme and aims to ‘redefine urban downtown living’.

Once complete, New Murabba is expected to comprise 100,000 residential units, alongside business, retail and entertainment districts, creating as many as 300,000 jobs. Computer-generated images create the impression of a city centre that more closely resembles the set of Hollywood’s latest sci-fi blockbuster than any high street.

‘New Murabba is part of Riyadh. It’s an extension of one of the coolest capital cities in the world. It’s a fantastic opportunity for people to come and learn and develop and play their best shots,’ Dyke says in a promotional video for the development.

Now based in Saudi Arabia, Dyke previously held senior positions at EDF, National Grid, Lendlease and Skanska. Most recently he served as CEO for HS2 major projects at Balfour Beatty.

His career in engineering and infrastructure has been instrumental in translating an audacious concept into a logistically possible deliverable.
