David Lesperance

Spear’s Review

Operating between the intersections of tax, immigration and citizenship, David Lesperance of Lesperance & Associates provides UHNWs with advice on maintaining their financial security. Whether it be through international tax planning, renunciation of citizenship or acquiring a golden visa, he offers bespoke solutions that centre around the protection of future wealth.

He tells Spear’s that the UK risks a departure in UHNWs amid rising tax rates. ‘The UHNW non-doms – they don’t need to stay in London to make and maintain their wealth,’ he says. ‘London’s nice – but it’s not that nice.’

As the ultra-rich migration takes hold, Lesperance says that the solution for a country looking to keep or attract UHNWs isn’t necessarily a zero-tax policy but a fair tax rate. ‘My clients say, “I don’t want to pay zero tax.” They know a nation needs welfare, social security, infrastructure, defence. But they are considering, “What amount of tax do I consider fair?” Everybody has their own number.’
