Spear’s Review

Haysmacintyre partner Majid Hussain joined the firm in 2024 after various tenures at leading tax firms including Deloitte and KPMG. In his current role, he heads the private client team and advises a network of wealthy clients including entrepreneurs, sportspeople, private equity executives and family offices. His particular area of focus is assisting ‘international families with complex overseas structures’.

Described by one colleague as an ‘injection of fresh energy and thinking’, Hussain says his work covers ‘all aspects of tax advisory, including dispute resolution, private equity, UK and non-UK trusts, family investment companies and establishing tax-efficient structures’.

In his spare time, Hussain is co-founder of a not-for-profit organisation that centres around leadership and self-development.

Adviser Profile

Majid leads the Private Client Team, where he excels in advising high-net-worth individuals both in the UK and internationally. His clientele includes non-UK domiciled individuals, private equity executives, athletes, entrepreneurs, and individuals with complex, multi-jurisdictional tax affairs. Additionally, he advises family offices, as well as UK and non-UK resident trustees. His extensive experience in private client tax allows him to provide strategic, personalised advice tailored to the unique circumstances of each client.

Majid’s expertise spans all areas of private client tax, with a particular focus on international families and their often complex overseas structures. He has a specialism in advising private equity executives regarding the taxation and structuring of their carried interest and co-investment interests. He is highly regarded for his ability to navigate intricate tax laws, especially in areas involving asset protection, succession planning, and inter-generational wealth transfer. Whether it’s structuring family assets for future generations or ensuring that wealth is protected across multiple jurisdictions, Majid’s depth of knowledge is highly valued by his clients.

His professional achievements are equally impressive. Majid has been featured for three consecutive years on Citywealth’s ‘Future Leaders Top 100’ list, a testament to his standing within the industry. He has also been recognised as Citywealth’s ‘Accountant of the Year’ and was named one of eprivateclient’s ‘Top 35 Under 35 Private Client Advisors’ in 2017. In 2024, his inclusion in the prestigious Spear’s 500 index further solidified his position as a leading private client tax advisor. Majid is known for his commercial, results-driven approach, making him a trusted advisor to high-net-worth individuals and their families on matters of succession and asset preservation.
