‘Wealth is changing. The wealthy don’t all look the same anymore, nor do they want the same sort of expertise. These clients don’t have to go to the same sort of firm all the time,’ Gunnercooke’s Kirpal Bidmead tells Spear’s. 

‘Gunnercooke has a new challenger model centred around fee-sharing,’ she explains. ‘We keep 70 per cent and the company keeps 30 per cent.’ Essentially acting as an independent family law practitioner under the Gunnercooke umbrella, Bidmead is able to access expertise across the firm’s network of lawyers while working for herself. 

She primarily instructs clients from London but is frequently called on by HNWs in France and New York. ‘It’s a whole new world, but I’m enjoying my freedom,’ she enthuses.

Based in London and Nottingham, she works with clients, both in the UK and overseas, with complex financial arrangements including family businesses, farms and company interests.
