Vanessa Curry

Spear’s Review

Vanessa Curry’s Fine Art Source works with a globally dispersed range of HNW and UHNW clients, including intergenerational families she has advised for years and ‘very entrepreneurial business owners’, she says. ‘I don’t have a large turnover [of clients]. I’ve worked closely for people for years, and their families, on their collections.’

She provides the full spectrum of art advisory services, from sourcing pieces to handling transactions and their tax and insurance implications, aiming to provide a seamless and hassle-free service for busy UHNWs. She typically takes on ‘five clients at a time’, in order to crystallise their artistic desires and develop an appropriate collecting strategy. ‘Owning visual art isn’t cheap, and once you get involved in it, collecting is something that can become fulfilling quite quickly,’ she says.

Before becoming an art adviser, Curry worked on the trading floor at Goldman Sachs for six years. ‘The clients I have are all very well-versed financially. They are sophisticated in terms of investment, [and] they can see things that have value – they just want to find work that really resonates.’
