Spear’s Review

King’s College Soto is a co-educational British day and boarding school in Soto de Viñuelas, just north of Madrid. The education programme is based on the UK curriculum, and students can choose between taking A-levels or the IBDP. Increasingly, King’s has been recognised for exam scores that outperform those of some of the UK’s top private schools.

However, the student experience is not purely academic. Children who attend the school are encouraged to participate in a wide range of extracurriculars, from music lessons to elite sports. The school’s grounds boast premium indoor and outdoor facilities on an extensive 12-acre site, including tennis courts, football pitches, two multimedia centres, an art studio and a horse riding centre.

Academics

60 per cent of GCSE results are grades 7–9.

49 per cent of results at A-Level are A* or A.

Average IB score is 36.0.

University and college destinations

Graduating students have matriculated at some of the world’s most elite universities, including Oxford and Cambridge, the US’s Ivy League schools and Russell Group universities.

Head teacher

Chris Ramsey joined King’s College Soto as headmaster in 2024. He has decades of experience in the UK education system; prior to his current role he served as headmaster for the Whitgift School in South London. A graduate of Brighton College and Durham University, he also has a MA in modern languages from the University of Cambridge.
