Spear's Review

Established in 1954, the British School of Paris is the only UK government-accredited school in France inspected by British Schools Overseas, a UK governmental inspection scheme.

Since it was founded, the school has maintained its ties with the UK. It remains under the patronage of His Majesty’s ambassador to France and has been visited by the late Princess of Wales, the Duchess of Wessex and the Duchess of Gloucester.

Its motto, Validus Corpore Animoque, meaning ‘strength in body and mind’, is an ethos that the school strives to carry through into the daily lives of its students through rigorous academia and a host of extracurricular activities.

Head teacher

Nicholas Hammond grew up in Norwich, England, and studied archaeology at the University of Cambridge before achieving a post graduate certificate in education at the University of Oxford. Prior to his headship of the British School of Paris, he was headmaster of Wisbech Grammar School in Cambridgeshire for six years.
