Peter Fairchild, national head of private clients at Crowe, has clients ‘in a whole range of sectors’, he tells Spear’s, ‘from professional practices – law firms, international clients and non-res non-doms – to people involved in property, to entrepreneurs. If I was pushed to say what my sweet spot is, though, then it would be sports, media and entertainment.’

Fairchild sees communication and understanding as vital to his service as a tax adviser, and his skills are never better used than when a young, financially inexperienced but newly wealthy star comes into his office. Avoiding schemes and maximising long-term planning, Fairchild uses structures that place the emphasis firmly on whole-of-life prosperity rather than quick income returns. He applies the same method to all his clients.
