Spear’s Review
Pupils of Hong Kong International School (HKIS)’s two campuses – in Repulse Bay and Tai Tam – receive an ‘American-style education grounded in the Christian faith’, though the school accepts students of all nationalities and faiths. In addition to academics, the school is committed to its cherished principle of compassion, which is at the heart of all its educational programmes.
The school has six priorities for student life and learning: academic excellence, self-motivated learning, character development, Chinese culture, spirituality and contributing to society. The youngest students foster a love of learning through play, while older students have access to 25 Advanced Placement subjects, a weeklong off-campus learning experience and 100-plus clubs.
In 2018, HKIS renovated the Repulse Bay campus; its future plans include a new centre for activities and athletics on the Tai Tam campus and a 900-seat performance hall.
