SPF Private Clients started in 1997 as simply SPF, the finance arm of Savils, the estate agent, but has since become its own concern following a management buyout in 2011 and has now been acquired by Howden, the global insurance broker. It maintains its own character and continues to be run by Mark Harris, who was one of the original management team.

In addition to high-net-worth and niche mortgages such as self-build and later-life lending, SPF has now instituted a private office, offering a range of service including lending and insurance for particularly affluent customers in need of a higher level of attentive and personal service.
