Spear’s Review
Bin Sevan Advocates & Legal Consultants’ Madeleine Mendy started her career in family law in 2004, working for a firm while studying the subject at UWE Bristol. ‘I remember it was my second year of university … I just loved it. I was working part time there until I qualified,’ Mendy says. ‘I always knew I wanted to do family law.’
The Dubai lawyer is a stalwart adviser to wealthy British expats in the Middle East, who often rely on her advice when navigating the local courts. ‘Wherever you get married, as long as you live in Dubai, as a new habitual resident you can get divorced here,’ Mendy explains. She also often creates videos on social media to offer pragmatic advice around family law issues.
She joined Bin Sevan Advocates on her arrival in Dubai in 2014, working at a different firm before returning in 2017 to set up the family law department.
