Spear’s Review
Hugh Grosvenor is the 7th Duke of Westminster, a role he assumed in 2016 following the death of his father. In 2024, the Sunday Times Rich List estimated he possessed a fortune of around $10.1 billion, making his family the UK’s 15th richest.
Grosvenor has oversight over a formidable property portfolio of more than 1,500 buildings. Born in 1991, he is one of the UK’s youngest billionaires, exercising considerable control over holdings that take up large swathes of Park Lane and Mayfair. Before he took on the mantle as a trustee of the Grosvenor estate, he worked in London for a B-Corp called Bio-Bean, which recycles used coffee grounds into sustainable biofuels.
A graduate of Newcastle University, as well as being a leading philanthropic figure through the family’s work, Grosvenor has been able to enjoy some of the trappings of an UHNW lifestyle. His 21st birthday bash in 2012 cost around £5 million, according to the Sun – the entertainment, it was said, included a performance by comedian Michael McIntyre. In 2024, he married Olivia Henson in what was called ‘the society wedding of the decade’.
Grosvenor has an active role in a wide range of charities, championing opportunities for young people and supporting a large fundraising campaign for the Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre at Stanford Hall. The centre was a cause close to his late father’s heart – with the family donating more than £100 million to the charity.
The Duke is also the godfather of Prince George, who is second in line to the British throne behind his father, Prince William.
