Spear’s Review
Sustainability and private jets aren’t often seen as congruous, but Toby Edwards aims to change the narrative. After becoming co-CEO of private jet charter company Victor in 2020 at the age of 32, he has been responsible for incorporating sustainability into the firm’s ethos.
‘Our mission is “a better way to fly” — which means our focus is on making aircraft charter more transparent, easier and more sustainable than ever before,’ Edwards told Spear’s. As part of its mission to make private jet chartering more sustainable, Victor has embarked on a partnership with Neste, a Finnish firm which produces Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
The companies claim that SAF produces up to 80 per cent less in greenhouse gases than traditional aviation fuel. This is by virtue of the materials it uses in the production of SAF, which are sustainably sourced, renewable and release a smaller amount of carbon emissions than crude oil. Edwards asserted that at this point, SAF is ‘the only credible, pragmatic way of reducing your carbon footprint’.
The company was sold to Aviation Investment Group, an Abu Dhabi-based investment vehicle, in 2023. Edwards remains at the controls as the firm expands into Middle Eastern markets.
