Spear’s Review

A 20-year veteran of Quilter Cheviot, Andrew McGlone’s perspective has been shaped by the wealth manager he now spearheads. He started out at the firm as an investment trainee in the early 2000s, before rising through the ranks to become head of the London private client department in 2013, then head of the London office, and now chief executive of both Quilter Cheviot and Quilter Cheviot Private Client Advisers.

‘I inherited something I’ve been a part of,’ he says. ‘We’re all at a point where we see something very special that we can deliver in the next three to five years’. Closer integration of the business, under McGlone’s leadership, will allow clients to be serviced soon ‘in a much more seamless way’, he adds, while the international business has made great strides in supporting Middle Eastern clients, as part of a regional presence the wealth manager has been cultivating since 2016. ‘We can offer a genuine UK-style discretionary management service, that isn’t really out there’.

Amid the exciting plans, the bread and butter of client service that McGlone ‘grew up with’ continues to inform his approach. ‘I think most of us who work here – it’s a sort of personal pride in knowing you’ve really delivered for individuals, particularly when they are totally trusting of you,’ he enthuses. ‘It’s a responsibility that [we] take really, really seriously.’
