Emma Palmer is head of family law for MSB Solicitors, based in Liverpool.

‘I’m a children specialist,’ she says. ‘Children are at the heart of everything we do. I like to look for practical solutions and help families find a level of peace they haven’t had before. It can be a very traumatic process, especially in the wrong hands.’ 

She believes in focusing on the client’s objectives and strategic decision-making early on. ‘There are always urgent issues, so we make time for problem-solving and working on the choices they’re making. After that it stabilises.’

Palmer and her team work largely with international clients on inter-jurisdictional cases.

Emma is a ‘go to’ solicitor for international and complex domestic children cases outside of London including alienation and cases involving social services. Often working with King’s Counsels, Emma’s cases are predominately heard in the High Court and Court of Appeal. 

A fellow of the prestigious International Academy of Family Lawyers, Emma is ranked in both Legal 500 and Chambers directories, which praise her for being ‘tactically astute’ with ‘an encyclopaedic knowledge of the law relating to children’.
