Spear’s Review
Niki McKenzie is an investment director at Archangels, an Edinburgh-based firm which invests in start-ups embracing early stage technology and life sciences businesses across Scotland.
The business angel syndicate has its roots as a start-up in 1992, a factor that it finds useful when identifying the right types of companies and projects to invest in. It takes pride in understanding how businesses work from the ground up. ‘Failure is not at all bad though,’ McKenzie said. ‘On the contrary, failure can be a positive thing if you learn from it and it makes you think about what you can do next time around to increase your chances of success,’ she added.
Archangels consists of more than 100 investors and focuses on investments of more than £10 million per year in early stage companies.
