Over its more than 40-year history, the International School of Beijing (ISB) has built a reputation for a progressive style of learning, strong academic results and a diverse range of co-curricular activities, including competitive and non-competitive sports, after-school activities, performing arts and service opportunities.
The school is open to families from all nations and backgrounds, and pupils from early years to grade 12 can opt in to an English or dual-language education.
ISB also places a strong emphasis on social and emotional learning, threading topics such as self-awareness, self-management, social-cultural competence, nurturing relationships and purposeful action throughout the academic curriculum.

Head teacher
Daniel Rubenstein has been the head of school since 2020. He has over 30 years of experience in both teaching and administrative positions – in China and the US. Prior to joining ISB, he was CEO of Prospect Schools in New York. He has also held roles at Sidwell Friends School, SEED Public Charter School and Collegiate School.
Admissions
According to the school, the ISB is an inclusive institution. The admissions process includes a review of official school transcripts and academic records, English language tests and recommendation forms, as well as an in-person or virtual interview.
