Spear’s Review
Portugal is an increasingly attractive destination for international families looking for a foothold in the European Union, and St Julian’s is one of the most attractive schools for that community.
The school offers parallel British international and bilingual streams for students from the age of 3 all the way to 18, and pupils sit International Baccalaureate exams with great success. From the well-planned pastoral care structure to the headmaster’s puppy, which makes a daily appearance on the school grounds, St Julian’s is a supportive environment for highly mobile families, with good academic results.
Head teacher
Paul Morgan acts as the CEO and educational leader of the school. In partnership with the governors, he is accountable for students’ learning, well-being and global citizenship, and the culture of the school as a whole. Morgan joined St Julian’s as head of school in August 2022. He studied mathematics at Kent University and completed his PGCE at Cambridge University. He has held previous roles at the London Oratory School, St Paul’s School in São Paulo and the British School of Amsterdam.
An experienced leader, Morgan has a track record of organisational transformation and sustained high performance across all aspects of the schools he has worked in. He is someone who respects the school’s traditions while also innovating and embracing change to ensure that the school is always moving forward.
