Spear’s Review

Alison Bull is an important figure in Mills & Reeve’s Manchester office with experience across the range of family law including mediation and collaborative law.

Bull is part of a national team of impressive reach, with offices in Birmingham, London, Cambridge, Norwich and Leeds. Well known for handling complex matters including trusts, as well as matters involving pensions, international issues, or matters where children are involved, one observer notes she is ‘pragmatic’ and keen to find ‘cost-effective solutions for the client’.

Bull is a member of the national committee of Resolution, and sits on its Equality, Diversity and Inclusion committee as well as the organisation's mediation working party.

Adviser Profile

Alison is renowned for her commitment to helping clients to find consensual out-of-court solutions in complex and high-value cases, both prior to and during court proceedings. As well as conducting family litigation, she is an accredited family, hybrid and civil/commercial mediator, and meets with children in mediation. She is one of the few financial and children arbitrators outside London, and is also a collaborative practitioner.

Clients and referrers said she ‘is very knowledgeable and gives great guidance with all probabilities weighed out’. ‘She’s really good at the difficult cases. She gets involved in the nuts and bolts of things and will pursue things – she’s the best lawyer for the very difficult cases.’
