Mills & Reeve family law partner Philip Way has over a quarter century of experience supporting international UHNWs, often with connections to family businesses and landed estates in Yorkshire and the surrounding areas. 

As well as acting for clients in several widely-reported cases, Way headed up Mills & Reeve's Leeds office between 2008 and 2022. Over that time, he oversaw the expansion of the team from a focus around family law to a full-service offering. His stewardship saw the firm win 'Best Large Law Firm of the Year' at the Yorkshire Lawyer Awards in 2021. 

'I'm very proud of the fact that very few of my cases to go court,' Way tells Spear's. In one recent settlement, he acted for a husband who had benefited from the sale of a family business to the tune of tens of millions, significantly negotiating down the divorce payment given to his spouse. 

As well as acting as the co-chair of the International Academy of Family Lawyers' pension committee, he is one of only two fellows of the IAFL in Yorkshire. He has also served as a regional chair of Resolution.
