Marco Amitrano

Spear’s Review

Marco Amitrano took on his role as senior partner of professional services behemoth PwC in the UK — which also has oversight of the firm’s Middle Eastern operations — in July 2024 after a close partnership vote in April, succeeding Kevin Ellis.

Though the firm paid homage to the ‘significant transformation’ brought about by Ellis over his eight-year tenure, it is perhaps telling that the firm’s partnership looked towards its consulting business for the new figurehead.

In a tough time for the firm and the wider professional services sector — PwC has announced hundreds of job cuts and delayed promotions in its award-winning graduate programme — Amitrano’s experience in long-term transformation might be just what’s needed to steady the ship. The PwC ‘lifer’ has worked across its advisory and risk assurance businesses over his three-plus decades at the company.

‘I’ve chosen a team that combines experience with fresh perspectives to ensure the firm is able to respond effectively to a dynamic environment,’ Amitrano said on appointing his management board before taking up the post. ‘They are team players, but bring diversity of thought and have the confidence to challenge. They also share a desire to get things done – I’m excited about what we can achieve together.’
