Mark Robertson and his team are the modern torchbearers of the Hottinger family name, which has been continuously active in financial services since 1786. ‘There’s a very rich history, and we are lucky and proud to be custodians of such an incredible brand,’ the CEO enthuses. 

Today, the firm operates on a platform created in 2016 by a group of shareholders and executives with ‘a shared vision’ to establish a global multi-family office, building on the Hottinger family legacy. Robertson says his role is to provide the world’s wealthiest with clear and impartial advice, helping them ‘navigate the opportunities and challenges they might face in business, finance and family life.’ 

Robertson, who still personally advises the group’s longest-standing client families, started his career at the Bank of Scotland (at the time, a conservative bank offering deposit and lending services), where he learnt the ropes of traditional banking. ‘The experience continues to serve me well,’ he says. ‘It was clear from day one that transparency and integrity would be the bedrock of any good business and career. These principles run through every part of Hottinger today.’
