Spear’s Review
A former keeper of ancient coins at Harvard University’s Fogg Museum, London-based Florent Heintz boasts a classical archaeology PhD from Harvard and has written for several academic publications, including the Journal of Roman Archaeology.
Heintz, who has intimate knowledge of a wide selection of Egyptian, Classical and Near Eastern pieces, including fine sculptures and reliefs, bronzes, terracottas, textiles and jewellery, joined Sotheby’s antiquities department in 2001.
Auctions at Sotheby’s attract interest from dozens of countries; notable sales have included property from the collections of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Clarence Day and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery (now the Buffalo AKG Art Museum).
