Spear’s Review
LGT Wealth Management’s Andrew Davies’ path to private client wealth management took him from a role as a business evaluation analyst at N&P Building Society to head of one of the UK’s earliest e-marketing services at First Direct.
But he realised that private client service was his calling when he was made a director within Barclays’ private banking arm in 2008.
After a decade working in the City, he moved to Bristol, where he helped LGT set up its first regional office in the south west in 2016. Today, he leads what he says is on target to become ‘a billion-dollar business’, thanks to the firm’s thoughtful and personalised proposition to entrepreneurial UHNWs.
Adviser Profile
Andrew Davies is a Partner and Head of Regions at LGT Wealth Management. He has a long and varied career in financial services that provides a broad base of experience and expertise to help entrepreneurial families. Having started his career in property finance he moved on to balance sheet management and product development for several high-profile banks.
Prior to moving into private client advice Andrew managed the global banking business for a large international private bank. After nearly a decade working from the City, Andrew moved to Bristol where he helped rebuild the regional presence for a well-known and large private bank. In 2016 he moved to LGT, opening its first regional office outside London in Bristol. As well as advising local HNW and UHNW entrepreneurial families, Andrew is spearheading the regional growth ambitions for LGT.
The adviser specialises in working with entrepreneurs and their families, where he finds his M&A experience well suited to helping clients navigate the process of determining if exiting their business is right.
As well as helping families develop a long-term financial plan and aligned investment strategy, he often finds himself navigating the more challenging aspects of the inter-family dynamics of succession planning and wealth transfer. His advice covers all aspects of wealth management and he considers all aspects of the family wealth, not just those assets specifically under management. He has a real desire to ensure good financial practice is passed down through the generations and spends a lot of time with second-generation family members, building their knowledge and understanding.
Andrew is a chartered member of CISI and an investor in local high-growth companies. He has two teenage children and a passion for cars and motor racing and is a member of the GRRC.
