‘From a bunch of tulips snatched from a neighbour’s garden for my mum after school, to the grandiose rose- and lily-laden projects [created] for my first love, I’ve always been infatuated,’ says Neill Strain. After studying floristry, Strain founded floral design firm Neill Strain Floral Couture in Belgravia; there is now also a boutique in Mayfair and at Harrods.

Strain remains involved with the daily running of the business and regularly travels to Holland to pick out flowers and discover new varieties himself.

‘I don’t have a favourite flower,’ he says. ‘It would be impossible to single out one from such a sensuous and beautiful collection.’ Strain’s approach is holistic; his style is consistently bold, and the bloom-laden shopfronts are Instagram hotspots in their own right.
