‘What’s really important is true partnership between executives, trustees and philanthropists,’ said Frances Prenn, vice chair at Korn Ferry, an organisational consulting firm. Prenn founded Scott Prenn LLP more than 20 years ago but has now moved on from the fundraising partnership in order to concentrate on public-private partnerships.

‘I’m a private adviser to families and individuals and foundations, predominantly around philanthropy,’ she said. ‘Before [moving to Korn Ferry] I would help implement, design, execute and oversee if someone wanted to develop a family foundation. It’s now mainly the strategic philanthropic approach and who their partners are going to be.’

Trans-Atlantic partnerships remain a speciality.
