Dubai has positioned itself as an international business and tourism destination – but has ambitions to further solidify its position on the global stage. 

One of the influential figures involved in this mission is His Excellency Helal Saeed Al Marri, who serves as director general of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and Dubai World Trade Centre Authority, and who is a member of the Executive Council of Dubai. 

Al Marri’s responsibilities are diverse and far-reaching: he oversees the drive towards sustainable tourism; is responsible for enhancing Dubai’s position as a global business hub; and is ‘accountable for the planning, oversight and delivery of Dubai’s vision and aspirational targets for the sector’.

His role requires the facilitation and fostering of collaborations across the international business community, as well as within the Dubai government, and with private and public sector stakeholders. 

A qualified chartered accountant, Al Marri previously worked at McKinsey and KPMG.
