Simon Holdsworth is founder and managing director at Holdsworth Financial, an independent brokerage of high-value and bespoke mortgages. 

Maintaining close links with large and small private banks, Holdsworth specialises in residential mortgages for town houses and country estates, as well as development, buy-to-let and portfolio lending for property investors.

Having been a mortgage broker since starting with John Charcol in the 1990s, Holdsworth and his staff now take on a select number of clients but provide an extraordinary level of personal service. When Spear’s last spoke to him, Holdsworth was fixing the computer of a younger member of a longstanding family client. ‘I haven’t done a mortgage for him yet,’ he said, taking a long view.

Simon Holdsworth, age 56, is Managing Director and owner of Holdsworth Financial Ltd. 

He has been working in the mortgage industry since 1986. Initially an underwriter for the banks, in 1990 he became a broker, arranging and advising clients on suitable solutions for their mortgage needs.

Holdsworth Financial Ltd is an independent brokerage with access to all the UK mortgage providers, banks, Private Banks and specialist funders. The company is family owned, managed and run; the business prides itself on partnering with clients from their first purchase to the point at which they are mortgage free. 

‘We are property finance professionals but our business is all about people,’ he says. ‘The numbers are obviously important but one mustn’t lose sight of the fact that property ownership is often also about emotions. To give the right advice we pride ourselves on getting to know each of our clients fully.’

The business arranges around £250 million of mortgages each year for properties across the UK and for clients around the world. 

Simon was a shareholder and Senior Partner at John Charcol, the founder and Managing Director of Towry Law Mortgages and now leads the team at Holdsworth Financial. 

His experience has seen him advise and arrange finance on some of the most substantial residential property transactions whilst also still helping first-time buyers take their first steps on the property ladder. Simon particularly enjoys working with each client to develop and apply a strategy to achieve their individual property goals. 

Outside of his business life Simon and his partner Alice have two loyal Labradors who can regularly be spotted taking part in Zoom meetings and in the City and Canary Wharf Offices.
