Spear’s Review
Aubrey Automobiles burst onto the classic car scene when its second completed commission, a bright-orange 1973 Series III Land Rover rebuilt for life in the Swiss Alps, was exhibited at the 2023 International Concours d’Elegance in St Moritz.
Since then interest has been strong, but Georgia Peck, the company’s founder, is only accepting a few commissions per year and, at first at least, only for 4x4s. The follow-up to the Land Rover, a glorious olive-green Mercedes G-Wagen, backs up her words.
She told Spear’s: ‘Custom 4x4s will be the focus of the business. It’s a completely bespoke vehicle. Not only taken apart and put together to the last screw so you have a better-than-new vehicle, we then add the bespoke process so you can specify everything individually, from hidden speakers to champagne coolers.
‘What differentiates us is a taste level, a sympathetic restoration. My key goal is to build something the next generation will love too.’
