‘I wear two hats,’ says Jonathan Giles, the managing director of Rathbones in Jersey, one of the island’s most prominent private client firms.

Despite his management role, Giles, who has over 35 years’ experience in international private client service, is actively client-facing and looks after a range of portfolios for wealthy individuals and international families.

‘My role is to simplify complex problems and build long-standing advisory relationships,’ he says. In these difficult times, he has found that clients are more focused than ever before on finding ‘a real return on their money’. But other things have remained the same: ‘People are still making money,’ he observes.
