A partner in Wedlake Bell’s private client team, Ann Stanyer is widely regarded as one of the UK’s leading lawyers in the field of financial abuse of older people. Her expertise in matters of mental capacity, as well as experience and relationships with leading barristers in the area, has led to the development of an extremely busy practice of unique, complex and often cross-border cases.

Her practice covers a wide range of trust, probate and private wealth management work, and she often advises trustees on tax and estate management issues.

As well as authoring the textbook Financial Abuse of Older Clients: Law, Practice and Prevention, she contributed to the Law Society’s Elderly Client Handbook and LexisNexis’s Finance and Law for the Older Client. She also writes widely in the national and industry press, and speaks frequently at safeguarding conferences.
