‘I’ve had the privilege of some quite well-known fundamental pieces of work in my career,’ says David Lister of his storied tenure as a family lawyer.

This includes a ‘seminal case’ on litigation funding ‘which is well known to every law student, and is basically a case which said you can give credits to the financially weaker party and get paid at the end of the day’.

Over more than 35 years, the veteran lawyer has worked for Sears Tooth, Mishcon de Reya and Rayden Solicitors before he joined Vardags as a senior partner in 2023. He has also been a long-time member of the International Academy of Family Lawyers and formerly served as governor.

With over three decades of experience, David learned his craft from previous generations of pioneers in the subject. His goal is imparting his knowledge with both clients and future generations in the embryonic stages of their careers. 

At its time, David secured the highest court determined settlement involving litigation in no fewer than six jurisdictions, forming the genesis of a major textbook produced by leading and junior counsel instructed on the manner.
